What Is the Colony Shuttle? Overview and Core Services

The Colony shuttle, operated by TexasShuttle, is a local transportation service designed to connect residents, commuters, and visitors within The Colony, Texas, and the surrounding Dallas‑Fort Worth metro area. The shuttle provides scheduled point‑to‑point rides, airport transfers, corporate shuttles, and special‑event transportation. Its primary mission is to offer a reliable, cost‑effective alternative to driving, especially for those who live or work near major corridors such as US 380, TX‑121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway), and the Dallas North Tollway. By using a fleet of modern, climate‑controlled vans, the shuttle aims to deliver a comfortable ride while reducing the number of single‑occupancy vehicles on the road. The service is especially valuable for employees commuting to the city’s growing employment hubs, families heading to local parks, and travelers connecting to regional transit options.

Service Area and Route Highlights

The Colony shuttle covers a well‑defined service zone that includes the city’s core districts, nearby suburbs, and key regional connection points. Routes generally radiate from the The Colony Transit Center on Ohio Drive, a hub managed by the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA). From there, shuttles travel north along TX‑121 toward the Sam Rayburn Tollway, providing easy access to the Nebraska Furniture Mart, The Colony Town Center, and the Lake Lewisville recreational corridor. Southbound routes connect riders to the Hebron station on the DCTA A‑Train, where passengers can transfer to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) network for onward travel to downtown Dallas. East‑west service follows US 380, linking the community with Carrollton and Little Elm, while the Dallas North Tollway provides a fast route to Plano and Frisco. All routes are designed to intersect with existing public transit options, creating a seamless multi‑modal experience.

Key Destinations and Local Landmarks

Riders on the Colony shuttle can reach a variety of notable landmarks and everyday destinations without relying on a personal vehicle. Some of the most frequently visited spots include:

  • Nebraska Furniture Mart – Texas – Located at 2300 Normandy St, this massive retail complex draws shoppers from across the region and is served by a dedicated shuttle stop.
  • The Colony Town Center – A mixed‑use development offering dining, grocery, and retail options; easily accessible from the shuttle’s central loop.
  • Lake Lewisville – Popular for boating, fishing, and lakeside parks, the lake is reachable via a short ride on the shuttle’s western route.
  • Hawaiian Falls Waterpark – A family‑friendly attraction that sees increased ridership during summer months, with a stop near the park’s main entrance.
  • The Colony Aquatic Center & Sports Center – Community facilities that host youth sports leagues and fitness programs; served by the shuttle’s northern circuit.
  • City Hall & Heritage Museum – Central civic landmarks that provide insight into the city’s history and local government services.

The shuttle also connects to nearby employment centers, such as the Cinemark headquarters and the JPMorgan Chase regional office, both of which are situated along the TX‑121 corridor. By linking these destinations, the shuttle helps reduce travel time and parking congestion, especially during peak hours.

Schedule, Frequency, and Flexibility

The Colony shuttle operates on a predictable schedule that aligns with typical commuter windows. Morning departures start around 5:30 am, covering the early shift workers and students, while evening service continues until roughly 10:00 pm. During weekdays, most routes run at 30‑minute intervals during peak periods (6 am‑9 am and 4 pm‑7 pm) and hourly off‑peak. On weekends, service frequency is reduced to every 60 minutes, with limited early‑morning and late‑evening trips to accommodate leisure travel. For travelers needing more personal scheduling, the shuttle offers on‑demand segments where riders can request a pickup within a defined service zone, similar to a micro‑transit model. This flexibility is particularly useful for reaching off‑hours events at the Lake Lewisville marina or late‑night flights from DFW International Airport.

What are the benefits of using our service?

Door to door shuttle service is included on all our trips. Usually trips in Texas are non-stop in a nicer vehicle. Texas Shuttle can pick you up Dallas, or your home anytime 24/7. We normally take you straight there, which is very different from other companies that leave you at a bus stop in Texas, and stop and wait repeatedly. We also don't pack you in with 8-54 people you don't know.

Does it cost anything to change my reservation?

You can change the date and time of your reservation at no cost. If you don't know the exact address, you can enter the city for now and reserve it, then give us the full address later. If you don't know your flight number landing in Dallas, you can estimate the time and update the flight number and time later.

Our Nicer Vehicles

What type of vehicle will pick me up?

We send a The Colony Shuttle or SUV (4+ passengers) or a nice car (1-3 passengers) anytime and take you to any address in Fort Worth Texas, not just DFW. Our Dallas and Fort Worth vehicles are clean and newer. Most vehicles are luxury and full size. We have Mercedes Sprinter Shuttles, Lincoln Navigators, Lincoln MKZ's, and a variety of other vehicles.

Pickup Locations

Your Texas Shuttle picks you up where it says Prearranged at DFW or Ground Transportation at Love Field. If you are in a wheelchair, do not allow your attendant to leave you anywhere except Prearranged at DFW. The signs are easy to see, and they are always at the curb.
Security won't allow drivers to wait or walk more than 15 feet away from their vehicle, so good communication is essential. Turn on your cell phone and take it off airplane mode and silent, so your driver can call or text you. If you don't recognize the number, it's probably your driver.

DFW - Prearranged Limo is located at the lower level of each terminal. Please choose the closest one to your gate and let your driver know when they call or text you.

  • Terminal A - Level 1 - Prearranged Limo is across the crosswalk from Door A15 and A29.
  • Terminal B - Level 1 - Prearranged Limo is across the crosswalk from Door B8 and B30.
  • Terminal C - Level 1 - Prearranged Limo is across the crosswalk from Door C4, C10, C24 and C30.
  • Terminal D - Level 0 - Prearranged Limo is Downstairs near Door D22.
  • Terminal E - Level 0 - Prearranged Limo is Downstairs near Door E35.

Love Field - Ground Transportation is on the lower level down the ramp from the baggage claim. Head to the right, and we pick you up where it says Oversized Vehicles.
