Daily Schedule (Houston to DFW)
What is your daily schedule?
We pick you up on your schedule 24/7, and take you anywhere in Dallas and Fort Worth. Our professional shuttle drivers are normally 5-10 minutes early at your home in Fort Worth and Dallas, or right on time at Dallas Fort Worth. You pick the time we pick you up. Normally 30 minutes after you land is enough time to get your bags and find Prearranged.
What is my pickup time at DFW?
We normally pick you up 30 minutes after your plane lands for domestic flights, or 45 mins after for international flights. If you don't have bags, you can schedule your pickup time for 15 mins after you land, or 30 mins for international flights with no bags.
What happens if my flight is delayed in Dallas?
Pickup times automatically adjust to 30 minutes after you land if your flight is delayed for domestic flights at DFW, or 45 minutes after you land for international flights. Please let us know as soon as possible if your flight number changes. You can always text us if there is a delay. This is helpful since airlines don't always update things online when they are late.
What happens if my flight in Dallas arrives early?
Call or send us a text if you want us to pick you up early at Dallas Fort Worth, and we will let your shuttle driver know that you are ready to be picked up. Otherwise, we will pick you up at the scheduled time on your reservation. If it's hot outside, please wait inside the DFW terminal closest to prearranged until your car or airport shuttle is a minute or so away.
How soon should I make a reservation?
Although there is no set rule that prevents booking a Houston to DFW Shuttle last minute, it's a good idea to make your reservation as soon as possible so a shuttle driver is available and prevent any delays with picking you up. There's no need to confirm again if you've already made a reservation, and received a confirmation email.
How long does it take from Dallas or Fort Worth Texas?
Texas Shuttle trips from Dallas or Fort Worth Texas in normal traffic are about an hour and forty minutes versus three and a half hours on the bus with a bunch of people. Rush hour in downtown Dallas and Fort Worth will normally add 15-45 mins (30 mins on the average). You might think there's no way a bus or another shared ride shuttle company in Dallas or Fort Worth Shuttle would take that long, but they stop and wait 3-5 times to pickup people. Buses and other shuttles also don't leave on your schedule, so you might wait 30 mins - 1.5 hours if the bus is running late. With us it's just you going straight to Fort Worth or Dallas, normally non-stop in a nicer vehicle or shuttle.
What time should I be picked up?
The drive to Fort Worth is about 1 hour and 40 minutes. 3 hours and 30 minutes before your flight is normally enough time if you're going to DFW. Dallas Fort Worth recommends you be there 2 hours early to get through security and find your gate. Boarding in Dallas usually starts 30 mins before your plane takes off. However, one hour and thirty mins is generally okay. Dallas and Fort Worth Shuttle driving takes about 2 hours, then 3 and a half hours before your flight takes off is normally good. You start running the risk that they will give your seat away in Dallas about 40 mins before your flight takes off. Sometimes a little extra time is good and makes your trip to Fort Worth stress free by adjusting for the unexpected.

Houston to DFW: The Complete 2025 Travel Guide
Whether you're a Houstonian heading to a Cowboys game, a business traveler catching a flight at DFW International, or a student visiting family across the Lone Star State, the trip between Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth is one of the most traveled corridors in Texas. This guide covers every realistic way to make the journey — driving, shuttles, buses, trains, and flying — with the practical details locals actually use.
Houston to DFW at a Glance
- Straight-line distance: Approximately 240 miles between downtown Houston and downtown Dallas.
- Driving distance: Roughly 240–250 miles depending on starting and ending points.
- Major routes: I-45 north (the most direct), US-59/I-69 to US-287, or I-10 west to US-287.
- Typical drive time: 3.5 to 4.5 hours without heavy traffic or weather delays.
- Air travel time: About 1 hour 5 minutes in the air, but total door-to-door usually exceeds driving.
Driving from Houston to DFW: Route Options
Most travelers choose I-45, the spine that links Houston, Conroe, Huntsville, Corsicana, and Dallas. It's the most direct path and the only true interstate option for the full corridor.
Route 1: I-45 North (Direct)
This is the default route. From downtown Houston, take I-45 North through The Woodlands, past Huntsville (a common gas-and-snack stop), through Corsicana, and into Dallas. You'll pick up I-30 East to reach Fort Worth or stay on I-45 to reach downtown Dallas. The route is mostly four lanes each way but narrows through several towns where speed limits drop.
Route 2: US-59 / US-287 (East Texas Scenic)
If you prefer smaller towns and East Texas landscapes, take US-59 North from Houston through Cleveland, Lufkin, and Tyler, then connect to US-287 toward Corsicana and Dallas. This adds time but avoids I-45's worst congestion.
Route 3: I-10 West to US-287 (Western Detour)
From Houston, take I-10 West toward Sealy and San Antonio briefly, then cut north on US-287 through Cameron and Cleburne. This route only makes sense for travelers going specifically to Fort Worth or southwest DFW suburbs like Burleson or Mansfield.

Shuttle Services from Houston to DFW
Shared shuttle services remain a popular option for travelers who don't want to drive I-45 themselves but also don't want to rent a car. Most Houston-to-DFW shuttles operate on fixed daily schedules, picking up passengers at designated points in Houston (often near major hotels, the Galleria area, and downtown) and dropping at DFW International Airport or Dallas Love Field, with some continuing into Fort Worth and surrounding suburbs.
What to Expect on a Houston–DFW Shuttle
- Pickup points: Typically clustered around I-45 North corridor hotels, downtown Houston, and sometimes Hobby or IAH airports.
- Stops along the way: Most shuttles run nonstop, but some allow Huntsville or Corsicana pickups for an added fee.
- Luggage: Standard allowance is one checked bag and one carry-on per passenger; oversized items usually require advance notice.
- Booking lead time: Same-day reservations are sometimes available, but booking 24–48 hours ahead is recommended.
Shuttles tend to be most economical for solo travelers without heavy luggage. For groups of three or more, the cost of multiple shuttle seats often approaches the cost of a rental car or rideshare.
Bus Options Between Houston and Dallas
Several intercity bus carriers serve the Houston–DFW corridor. Buses typically depart from Houston's downtown Greyhound station and arrive at the Dallas Greyhound terminal near downtown, with some services stopping in Fort Worth and at DFW Airport ground transportation areas.
Bus travel is generally the lowest-cost option, but journeys are longer than driving because of intermediate stops. Wi-Fi and power outlets are commonly available, though amenities vary by carrier.
Amtrak: The Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer Routes
Amtrak's Texas Eagle runs daily between San Antonio and Chicago, with a Houston connecting point and stops in Dallas and Fort Worth. While there is no single direct Houston–DFW Amtrak train, passengers can connect via a Thruway bus from Houston to the Longview station, then board the Texas Eagle northbound to Dallas Union Station or Fort Worth's Central Station — a historic Beaux-Arts depot in downtown Fort Worth that's itself worth a visit.
Rail travel is slower than driving but offers scenery, legroom, and the freedom to work or read without navigating I-45 traffic.
Flying from Houston to DFW
Both Houston airports — George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU) — offer multiple daily nonstop flights to DFW International. Flight time is roughly 65 minutes in the air, but the total door-to-door experience typically includes:
- Arriving at the airport 90 minutes before departure
- TSA screening time
- Deplaning and baggage claim at DFW
- Ground transportation from DFW to final destination (often 30–45 minutes to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth)
For many travelers, especially those living outside the immediate airport corridors, the total door-to-door time rivals or exceeds driving.
Best Stops Along I-45 Between Houston and Dallas
If you're driving, here are practical stop points travelers have used for decades:
- The Woodlands (mile ~28): Restaurant row off I-45, fuel, and restrooms.
- Huntsville (mile ~70): Popular halfway break; the Sam Houston State University area offers multiple fast-food and fuel options.
- Corsicana (mile ~190): Last major stop before Dallas with reliable fuel and food.
- Ennis (mile ~215): Small-town stop with minimal services but useful for stretching.
Houston to DFW Traffic: When to Leave
Houston's I-45 corridor sees heavy commuter traffic south of The Woodlands in the morning and again in late afternoon. Friday afternoons heading north toward Dallas and Sunday evenings heading south toward Houston are the most congested periods. Major college football weekends (Texas A&M, University of Texas, Baylor games) and holiday travel windows add 30–90 minutes to typical drive times.
For the smoothest drive, many experienced travelers depart Houston between 9 a.m. and noon on weekdays, avoiding both morning rush and the post-lunch peak around Dallas.

Planning Your Houston-to-DFW Trip
The best choice between driving, shuttle, bus, rail, or air comes down to three questions: How much luggage are you carrying? What's your budget? And how flexible is your schedule? For most travelers with light luggage and a flexible day, driving or a shared shuttle offers the best balance of cost, comfort, and total time. For tight budgets, the bus is hard to beat. For absolute speed on connections through DFW Airport, flying wins — assuming your starting point in Houston is close to either IAH or HOU.
Whichever option you choose, booking in advance, especially around Texas football weekends and major holidays, will save both money and stress.
