The 2026 airshow at Ellington Airport
The United States Air Force Thunderbirds headline the 2026 show, and NASA's Freedom 250 F-5 team joins the lineup to celebrate America's 250th birthday. The airshow is a community event of the Commemorative Air Force, presented by the Houston Wing, the Gulf Coast Wing, and Tora! Tora! Tora!, with support from the Lone Star Flight Museum, the Collings Foundation, and the Vietnam War Flight Museum. Getting to Ellington: the flightline traffic problem
Ellington Airport sits southeast of downtown Houston near Hobby Airport, and on airshow mornings the access roads funnel thousands of cars toward one gate. The spectator lots fill early, the walk from a far stall to the flightline is long, and after the 5 p.m. finale every departing car funnels out the same way it came in.
