The Route: Georgetown to IAH
The drive is approximately 170 miles end-to-end. Our preferred routing leaves Georgetown southbound on I-35, picks up SH-130 (Pickle Parkway) through the east side of Austin to bypass downtown traffic, then heads east on US-290 (the Northwest Freeway) through Elgin, Giddings, Brenham, and Hempstead before merging onto the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8) North and dropping straight into IAH. When US-290 is congested east of Brenham, drivers will reroute via US-79 and I-45 South — your driver picks the live-fastest path on the day you travel. Starting from Round Rock instead? Our Round Rock to IAH shuttle runs the same I-35 corridor with a Round Rock pickup point.
Typical drive time is 3 hours to 3 hours 45 minutes, depending on Austin rush-hour, Houston Beltway traffic, and weather. We pad airport pickups so that even a slow-traffic day still puts you at the curb with comfortable margin before bag-drop.
When to Leave for Your Flight
For a stress-free arrival at IAH, we recommend leaving Georgetown 5 hours before a domestic departure and 6 hours before an international departure. That covers the 3–3.75 hour drive, the TSA / international check-in window, and a comfort buffer for traffic on US-290 near Brenham (a known choke point in late afternoon).
If you’re flying out before 9 AM, the drive is fastest — Austin and Houston rush-hour are both behind you. Late-afternoon departures (3–7 PM) are the hardest on this corridor; please budget the full 4 hours.
IAH Terminal Drop-Off
IAH has five terminals: A, B, C, D, and E, all served by a single elevated departure roadway. Tell us your airline at booking and your driver will drop you at the correct terminal door — no inter-terminal walking, no Skyway. Quick reference:
- Terminal A: Southwest, Frontier, Spirit, JetBlue
- Terminal B: United Express (regional)
- Terminal C: United mainline domestic
- Terminal D: International carriers (Lufthansa, KLM, British Airways, Air France, Emirates, etc.)
- Terminal E: United international, Delta, Air Canada, Alaska, Aer Lingus
(Airline-to-terminal assignments occasionally change — your booking confirmation reflects the current IAH layout.)
Why a Shuttle Beats Driving Yourself
Driving your own car from Georgetown to IAH means two 3.5-hour drives (out and back) plus airport parking. IAH’s ecopark and ecopark2 long-term lots run roughly $8–$12 per day; for a one-week trip that’s $56–$84 in parking alone, plus 14 hours of total driving, fuel (~$60–$80 round-trip in a midsize car), and the wear on your vehicle. A Texas Shuttle private ride often comes in at or below the all-in cost of driving yourself once you count parking, fuel, and tolls — with none of the post-flight fatigue.
What to Expect on the Ride
It’s a long ride. We send a clean, late-model vehicle sized to your group: a private sedan for 1–3 passengers, a full-size SUV for 4–5, or a shuttle van for 6–14 with luggage. Every vehicle has phone chargers, climate control, and bottled water. Our drivers know the corridor cold — most have run the I-35/US-290 link 500+ times. Bathroom stop at Brenham or Hempstead on request; just ask.
Luggage: standard allowance is two checked bags plus a carry-on per passenger. Oversize items (golf bags, ski cases, baby strollers, mobility scooters) are welcome — just note it on your booking so we send the right vehicle.
Child seats: we supply forward-facing and booster seats at no charge with 24-hour notice; please specify child age and weight when you book.
Flight Delays & Schedule Changes
We monitor your inbound flight status on arrival pickups. If your flight is delayed, your driver adjusts — you do not need to call. For outbound trips, if your departure moves more than 2 hours, message dispatch and we’ll re-time the pickup at no charge. Cancellations made 24+ hours before pickup are fully refundable.
