Cypress to Hobby Airport Shuttle
Traveling from Cypress to Hobby Airport made easy with Texas Shuttle's private door-to-door service. Cypress sits in northwest Harris County along the US–290 corridor, well outside the inner Houston loop. From Cypress to William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) our drivers run a predictable big-loop route: US–290 East to Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Tollway) South, riding the tollway around the west and south of Houston straight to the Hobby Airport exit.
From central Cypress (ZIPs 77429, 77433, and 77447) the typical pickup is a Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Fairfield, or Coles Crossing residence, or a hotel along the US–290 frontage road such as the Courtyard Houston Northwest/Cypress. From there it is US–290 East a few miles to the Grand Parkway (TX–99) interchange — we generally stay on US–290 East to the Beltway 8 South entrance rather than detouring onto TX–99, since Beltway 8 South is the direct path to HOU. Once on Beltway 8 we ride the tollway clockwise around west Houston, past I–10 and US–59, and exit at Airport Boulevard for HOU’s single passenger terminal (concourses A, B, and E).
The road distance from central Cypress to HOU is about 40 miles (about 32 miles straight-line), and the typical door-to-door drive time runs 55–75 minutes off-peak, stretching to 75–95 minutes during weekday PM rush on Beltway 8 South. For a one-way trip, recent sedan fares on this route have landed roughly in the $85–$160 range depending on the exact pickup address — closer-in Cypress 77429 addresses come in low, far-northwest 77447 addresses come in higher. The price you see in our online quote is the flat door-to-door total, tolls included.
What to Expect on the Cypress to Hobby Route
The Cypress–to–Hobby (HOU) corridor is a long but predictable run through northwest Houston. Based on real completed Texas Shuttle trips on this exact route, here is the on-the-ground reality — where in Cypress we pick up, how we route, what Hobby Airport actually looks like, and how to time your ride.
Cypress pickup zones we serve
We pick up from any address in greater Cypress and the surrounding northwest-Harris-County area. The strongest volume on this route is from ZIP codes 77429, 77433, and 77447. Our dispatcher routinely runs Cypress–Hobby from:
- Master-planned residential — the Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Fairfield, Coles Crossing, Cypress Creek Lakes, and Stable Gate neighborhoods, plus the Adams Run / Yaupon Ranch / Kelsey Gap residential streets off Fry Road.
- Hotels along the US–290 corridor — including the Courtyard Houston Northwest / Cypress at 23930 Northwest Freeway, and the cluster of Hampton / Holiday Inn Express / Best Western properties on the US–290 frontage road between Fry Road and Mason Road.
- Lone Star College–CyFair and the Berry Center off Barker Cypress Road — a frequent stage for parents picking up students for break-week flights out of HOU on Southwest.
- Outlying pickups from Cypress–adjacent communities such as Tomball, Hockley, Waller, and the FM–1960 corridor are quoted at the same flat door-to-door rate. If your address sits closer to Tomball than Cypress, our Tomball to Hobby page is the natural starting point.
The road choice: US–290 + Beltway 8 South is the default
There are two practical paths from Cypress to Hobby, and the right one depends on time of day:
- US–290 East to Beltway 8 South (Sam Houston Tollway), exit Airport Boulevard — our default. Off-peak this runs roughly 55–65 minutes door-to-curb from central Cypress ZIPs. The Beltway 8 toll is included in your flat fare.
- US–290 East to I–610 West Loop South to I–45 South, exit Airport Boulevard — the inside-the-loop fallback. We use it when Beltway 8 South backs up at the Westpark / Bissonnet feeders (typical 4:30–7:00 p.m. weekdays). It is a few minutes longer most of the time, but more predictable in heavy traffic.
For early-morning departures (before 6:00 a.m.), the US–290 + Beltway 8 default is reliably in the 50–60 minute range. The Grand Parkway (TX–99) detour saves no meaningful time for a Hobby drop and is reserved for IAH runs.
Hobby (HOU) vs IAH — which airport is yours?
Hobby Airport (HOU) is the smaller, faster of Houston’s two commercial airports. Southwest Airlines flies almost exclusively out of HOU — if your itinerary is on Southwest, you want Hobby, not IAH. HOU also serves Delta, JetBlue, Frontier, and limited American and Spirit flights. It is a single passenger terminal with concourses A, B, and E (international), and check-in to gate is typically 20–30 minutes, which is why many northwest-Houston travelers prefer HOU over IAH for shorter domestic trips even though IAH is geographically closer to Cypress.
If your flight is on United, or you are flying internationally on a non-Southwest carrier, the answer is probably IAH instead — use our Cypress to IAH shuttle page, which is the shorter, faster Cypress–to–George Bush Intercontinental drive (about 25–30 miles via the Grand Parkway and Hardy Toll Road).
Why a flat-rate shuttle beats park-and-fly from Cypress
From Cypress the math is unusually clear. Hobby Airport long-term parking, gas, and the wear on a ~80-mile round-trip drive typically exceed our flat sedan fare for a 4–6 day trip, and that is before you factor in the 15–20 minute shuttle-bus ride from HOU’s economy lot to the terminal at 4:30 a.m. Rideshare from Cypress is also unpredictable: at 40 miles each way, surge pricing routinely pushes Uber and Lyft well above our flat rate, and a driver may decline a return trip out to Cypress 77433 entirely. Booking a flat-rate shuttle locks the price, the pickup window, and the return ride home.
Travel tips for Cypress riders
- Pad 15–20 minutes for weekday PM departures. Hobby flights leaving between 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekdays catch Beltway 8 South at its worst — request a pickup 15–20 minutes earlier than the off-peak baseline.
- Early-morning pickups are flat and fast. A 4:00 a.m. pickup for a 6:30 a.m. Southwest flight out of HOU is the standard window for central Cypress; expect curbside at concourse A or B by about 5:10 a.m.
- Flight tracking is included. If your inbound flight to Hobby runs late, dispatch automatically shifts your return pickup — no need to call from the gate.
- Group rates are flat. Four to seven passengers in an SUV, or 8–17 passengers in our shuttle van, is quoted flat at booking — almost always cheaper per person than two sedans for family groups and corporate teams flying out of HOU.
- Car seats for children. Texas law requires safety seats for children under 8 or under 4'9". Request a seat at booking and we will supply one at no surprise charge.
- Round-trip promo. Use promo code ONLINE at booking for 10% off round trips.
